Basic Data

 

MSCOE and IABG invite you to attend the NATO CAX Forum 2016 in the south eastern outskirts of Munich, Germany. The outline data are as follows:

Location: IABG, Ottobrunn (10 km south east of the city of Munich)
Time slot: 20th – 23rd September 2016

Conference Fee:
Industry rate: 300,- €
Gouvernment rate: 200,- €

Due to administrative and technical reasons the only accepted payment method is “cash”.
We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.

Conference food (lunch, coffee) and ice breaker are included in the conference fee.

Arrival: Monday, 19th September 09;00 a.m. - Tuesday, 20th
Social event: Wednesday, 21st September in the afternoon
Departure: Friday, 23rd September

Conference Program

 

The 11th Forum will again focus on technical issues and operating procedures related to simulation-based exercises and training support, in order to promote the exchange of information and best practices among the Staffs of NATO and National simulation/training centers. As usual, a full session will be dedicated to national simulation/training centers, their activities and the possible synergies among them and main NATO training institutions like the JWC and the JFTC. A newly introduced  special session will be focusing on Hybrid Warfare, Wargaming, Immersive training as well as CYBER-Warfare.

Dedicated booths will also be available for the demonstrations of CAX and simulation related products by commercial organizations, military and civilian entities.

Delegates are encouraged to participate by providing presentations focused on the CAX related topics, including but not limited to the following:


a.    Technical

  • Experiences and Lessons Learned by Nations and NATO bodies,
  • Simulation and models: approaches, architectures, algorithms and systems,
  • Modelling for combined, joint and expeditionary operations and irregular warfare,
  • Collaboration, service discovery and data sharing techniques and systems,
  • Auxiliary software for military modelling and simulations,
  • Command & control (C2) systems, operational planning process (OPP) tools and their interaction with CAX tools,
  • Gateways between C2 and simulation systems,
  • Standards,
  • CIS requirements, architectures, and security,
  • Exercise support tools.


b.    Operating procedures

  • Experiences and Lessons Learned  by Nations and NATO bodies,
  • Organizational challenges in CAXs,
  • CAX Planning Process,
  • Collaboration, service discovery, and data sharing procedures,
  • CAX support tools exploitation,
  • Multi-level and cross-level distributed exercises,
  • Experimentation.


To submit a proposal for a presentation or a demonstration please complete the “Presentation Submission Form” not later than August 26th, 2016

Accomodation

 

ATTENTION:
Please note that the conference week coincides with the first week of the famous “Oktoberfest”.
This essentially affects the availability as well as the prices of all accommodation in the Munich area.
Early booking (see hotel reservation and cancellation policy below) is strongly recommended.

We have reserved rooms in several hotels near the event. The links will guide you directly to the respective web sites. Please use the mentioned booking reference.

Additionally, the German Air Force Officers School offers a limited number of student rooms on the camp. These rooms are provided preferably for military personnel or Armed Forces employees. The price for these rooms is very reasonable (6.50 € per night). But note that the level of comfort is not comparable with any hotel accommodation. Toilets and showers are located at the end of each hallway. Breakfast is available in the area. Please contact GAFOS directly via mail, phone or fax.

MSCOE, IABG or the German Armed Forces will not provide any hotel booking service.

Social Event

 

The social event will lead us to the city center of Munich on Wednesday afternoon. We will attend a 2 hours historic town walk along a number of famous locations. The guides will show us paths into the past and future. It is an entertaining and not just historical tour. The walk will end roundabout 19:00 hours.

On the way back to the hotels we will have a drop off stop at the entrance of the Oktoberfest for those who want to experience this famous event.

Please note that visiting the Oktoberfest will be on your own responsibility as soon as you leave the bus. For your way back to the hotels we recommend taking one of the taxis, which you will find around the area.
