“As a Bavarian company we naturally welcome the relocation of this trade fair from Hamburg to Munich, and regard this move as a clear signal for the significance of Bavaria as a centre for aeronautics”, sums up Monika Amler, head of corporate communications at IABG. “Even if we have long since no longer performed all the tests in-house at our headquarters in Ottobrunn.” A large test facility was purpose built 3 years ago for the extensive structural tests on the Airbus A380 in Dresden.
The Aerospace Testing Expo trade fair, which is dedicated entirely to test, evaluation and inspection technology for aerospace technology, attracted more visitors to our stand than we expected. Besides the experts visiting the fair, distinguished representatives from the world of politics were also evidently impressed. For example, one high-profile guest we had the pleasure of welcoming to our stand was the Bavarian State Minister for Economic Affairs, Infrastructure, Transport and Technology, Mr Erwin Huber. Prof. Dr. Rudolf Schwarz, Executive Director and Chairman of IABG, and Minister Huber discussed at length the opportunities that Bavaria has to offer as a centre for high-tech firms such as IABG. In a lively interchange of ideas, various topics were discussed such as preserving technological expertise and remaining competitive, in addition to securing qualified jobs. Everyone was in accord with the evaluation that aerospace and satellite navigation are amongst the most important drivers behind the innovation within the Bavarian economy.
The model of our structural test on the Airbus A380 proved to be a real crowd-puller at this trade fair. Numerous experts attending the fair took advantage of this opportunity to find out in detail about our innovative test and qualification technologies. Experts in this field were particularly impressed by the speed with which we are able to conduct fatigue tests on entire cells today. This is made possible by special testing technology and proprietary developed software solutions.
Our experts from Space Travel/Product Qualification were also entirely satisfied with this event. They emphasized the high “quality of the talks” and were particularly pleased about receiving an exceptionally high number of specific requests for tests, which they have taken back home with them from the trade fair.
