Europe's Most Modern Communal Data Network Goes Into Operation in Saxony

With the official start of the Communal Data Network (CDN) at the end of January, the communes in the Free State of Saxony now have a wide-area modern communications infrastructure, via which, in the coming months, local government units in Saxony will be linked. The network has junctions to the info highway of the State administrative authorities, to the interlinked governmental system TESTA and into the Internet. It permits data exchange via the Saxony governmental administration info highway with the Saxony federal state authorities.

By the end of June 2004, all autonomous towns, all regional district offices and about half the communes belonging to regional district authorities will be linked to the new network.

IABG made an important contribution to the setting up of the Communal Data Network. It drew up the network concept, monitored the contract awarding process from the beginning to the end, compiled and negotiated the contract between KDN GmbH, our client, and T-Systems International (TSI) thorough to the signature phase. TSI has assumed responsibility for the provision, configuration, operation and maintenance of the CDN and its links.
