IABG commences operation of new environmental simulation chamber

In January IABG commenced the operation of another environmental simulation chamber. The technology enterprise located in Ottobrunn near Munich now operates a total of six walkable and drivable environmental simulation chambers.

The new climatic chamber is used for motor vehicles tests and to test aviation and aerospace sector components. It covers a temperature range air from -40°C to +120°C with humidity levels of up to 95%.

The usable interior of 9,0 m x 4.0 m x 3.0 m (LxWxH) offers room for up to four vehicles at the same time. Additionally the chamber is equipped with state-of-the-art test equipment and a re-designed measurement and evaluation room.

Apart from clean, freely programmable temperature and climatic cycles typical ranges of application include cold start tests, warm-up and heat run as well as functional tests (e.g. air conditioning systems) under variable temperature or climate conditions.

The size of the chamber also permits the complete setup, automation and implementation as well as the execution and analysis of long-term function tests, for example of covers and doors.

Besides the IABG possesses test chambers with various technical equipment (high altitude simulation, exhaust and temperature measurement, roller test stands) which are hence most suitable for tests motor vehicles of up to 3.5 t.

In our two high altitude chambers we provide cold start tests and engine applications up to heights of 3.800m AMSL and exhaust gas measurements up to heights of 1.600 m AMSL. For non-vehicle applications we also have the possibility of reducing the chamber pressure down to 50 hPa.

Apart from the walkable and drivable chambers we provide a spacious test preparation area, various component test chambers, a splash water test facility and sun simulation systems.
