Head of IABG’s Berlin Branch Appointed Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Inter-branch Organisation SIBB

On 11 May 2011, Christian Köhler (44), head of IABG’s Berlin subsidiary, was unanimously appointed as the new Chairman of the Board of SIBB (Association of the Software, Information and Communications Sector in Berlin and Brandenburg), the ICT inter-branch organisation of the Berlin region. The general meeting furthermore confirmed the appointment of the board members Dr. Mathias Petri (Chairman of the Board StoneOne AG), Stefan Zorn (Managing Director imatics Software GmbH), as well as of Thomas Schröter (Managing Director eventurecat GmbH).

Christian Köhler is responsible for sales & marketing in IABG’s InfoCom division and since 1998 has been in charge of the company’s subsidiary in Berlin. For three years now, he has been a member of SIBB’s executive committee and has extensive experience in the area of information and communications technology, both in project work and in development and care of long-term customer relations.

His past activities included - among other things - the development of strategy and master plans for public-sector clients in the information & communications and the security sector, the planning and development of security networks, clusters and partnerships, as well as project management in ITC projects. In that context, he was responsible for programme management and controlling in several large-scale projects for public-sector clients. Christian Köhler furthermore has relevant expertise and experience within the sectors of sourcing, outsourcing and tender management.

Christian Köhler has identified improving the interfaces to politics and municipalities as one of his key future tasks; here he can build on customer relations he has been developing in the course of many years. In addition, he intends to specifically emphasize the competences of ICT sector enterprises in the region Berlin Brandenburg and to strengthen location marketing.

“Berlin as the capital and Berlin-Brandenburg as metropolitan region are among the most important ICT locations in Germany”, explains Christian Köhler. “One of my tasks will thus be the intensified involvement of the region and its external presentation. In order to achieve this goal, we will continue intensifying our contacts to politics, municipalities, research institutions and companies and strengthening the position of our organisation and the region’s ICT enterprises”.

In his inaugural speech Mr. Köhler appreciated the achievements of the former Chairman of the Board, Dr. Ortwin Wohlrab, who had managed the organisation during the past eight years. According to Köhler, interdisciplinary projects were significantly professionalised and structured in his predecessor’s term of office.

IABG congratulates Christian Köhler to his appointment and wishes him all the best for this important task.
