Many software developments suffer from deadlines and costs being significantly overrun and/or greatly limited functionality compared to planning. In the worst case, whole projects are abandoned before a useful product has even been created. This problem was detected and also solved at an early stage.
With the procedural model (V-model) developed by IABG, there has been a general development standard for IT systems since 1997. The V-model soon became a reliable way forward for the implementation of IT planning for public-sector projects. Due to the exceptionally positive field reports, such as the development of the Bundestag's new address management, the police's new IT system "Inpol-neu" and the Eurofighter's on-board radar, many companies are now choosing this option.
The V-model mainly consists of concrete instructions and preformulated document descriptions for development and project documentation. It is precise, easy to understand and easy to implement. As expected, use of the V-model has improved development processes and increased product quality while reducing costs.
The new V-model XT replaces the V-model 97. As its predecessors, IABG has been closely involved in its development.
