With the delivery of two turnkey system test stands for
active steering systems (EPS: Electric Power Steering) and (AFS: Active Front Steering)
and the official handover on 18. Feb. 2003 at BMW, IABG achieved an important success in
the Mechatronic Systems sector.
 The
test stand technology developed during this project represents an innovation in the Intelligent
Test Technology field. To be emphasised are the online-communications with a complex integrated
control unit, the applications and diagnosis possibilities and the linking to a stand-alone-HIL-simulator.
The system test stands serve to optimise the functions and assure the concept for active
steering systems as part of series development. The major aim is to relocate important parts
of the functional development and Fail-Safe investigations from the running tests to the
test stand and thereby to make full use of the important advantages of tests on test stands
such as reproducibility and time efficiency.
