Mass Property Measurements (MPM)

For the accurate determination of the physical mass characteristics of spacecraft, their subsystems, payloads and other kind of general engineering systems, IABG operates various Mass Property Measurements (MPM) facilities.

• Precise determination of specimen masses up to 3000 kg
• Determination of the spatial Centre of Gravity (CoG) on specimen masses from 0.7 kg up to 6000 kg
• Determination of the Moment of Inertia (MoI) in the range from 0.05 kgm² to 17,000 kgm² on specimen up to 6000 kg
• Determination of the Product of Inertia (Moment of Deviation) derived from:
  • residual unbalances
  • Multiple MoI measurements
• Determination of the Principal Axes derived from multiple MoI measurements
• Static / Dynamic Balancing on specimen masses up to 2,800 kg
