Besides averting acute dangers, environmental remediation today is predominantly a step on the way to revitalising derelict industrial sites or converting military property. Questions concerning liability and achieving legal certainty for investors are key topics. Different interest groups must be gathered around the negotiating table and conflicts of interests must be resolved. In order to find acceptable compromises, IABG takes on the role of moderator.
Remediation methods are still being developed today but from a different point of view than that of 10 years ago. Low-cost methods are in demand, for example on-site technologies such as DROP technology developed by us for remediation of oil pollution. By means of cost-benefit analyses and lifecycle assessments, we find ways to remediate environmental damage at a low cost and in an environmentally efficient manner.
