Reconnaissance – gaining decision superiority.
In the military decision-making process the most possible realism and quality of the situational awareness can decide on the life or death of hundreds of people. A quick and profound intelligence gathering from as many civilian and military sources as possible and a near real-time reconnaissance are indispensable prerequisites for command and control decisions and mission planning.
To contribute to the alliance reconnaissance, surveillance and target acquisition architecture, our Armed Forces need a harmonised fleet of different reconnaissance systems. These systems can use ground-, sea-, air- or space-based platforms and the sensors must cover a wide spectral range.
We support both the Bundeswehr as the operational customer, and also the supplying industry with analyses of future system architectures. We evaluate proposed solutions and optimise the combination of reconnaissance systems. For this purpose we have virtual prototypes for the entire reconnaissance cycle, the information exploitation and generation of an operational picture. These prototypes allow interoperability and interface problems to be detected early on. Together with the Bundeswehr we are testing new mission planning systems for the efficient use of joint/combined intelligence gathering and reconnaissance systems and we are testing automated exploitation procedures.
Command and control – enabling leadership.
New operational concepts demand new command and control processes. The provision of a (joint/combined) near-realtime common operational picture allows parallel, dynamic planning and control and, therefore, adds a completely new quality to the concept of “order tactics”. With our simulation systems and tools for decision support, we provide the necessary transparency in the planning process and also enhance the training of the military leadership. |
