The consequences of the new awareness of security within the EU can be seen in a new security and defence policy and in the establishment of new organisations such as the European Defence Agency (EDA), the European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA) or the planned European Crisis Centre ARGUS, as well as in the provision of appropriate budgets for security research and security projects.
ESDAG, the European Security and Defence Analysis Group, comprises 5 companies and organisations that work together under the auspices of IABG. These provide official EU bodies with expert research and consultancy services ranging from strategic planning through the development of concepts to the evaluation of systems and components relating to security problems at a European level.
Focuses of the work include the protection of critical infrastructures, the identification and evaluation of risks that could develop in highly critical situations, the simulation of EU-wide crisis management and the particularly important role played by human factors in this new type of crisis scenario. |
