The achieved effect is the ultimate decider.
The Armed Forces are currently inadequately equipped for many of the operational missions that will be required in the future. This applies to the interoperable equipment as well as to the training and exercises (joint/combined) with coalition partners.
One of our tasks is to increase the operational effectiveness despite limited investment resources. For years we have been assessing the performance and effectiveness of new technologies and demonstrated the system solutions that can be obtained with these new technologies in operational field tests. The participation of military personnel has guaranteed that these tests have the required degree of practical applicability. We regard this almost unique tactical-technical cooperation as the best prerequisite for the development of sustainable and innovative system solutions.
We are also forward looking in our approach to the urgent questions relating to asymmetric warfare. We analyse which effects can be achieved with specific resources (effect-based operation). At the same time we also take into consideration new, non-lethal measures or futuristic weapons technologies such as combat lasers and high performance microwaves. Here, too, our motto is: “Thinking the future” is the best basis for well-founded decision making.
