Viewing the Armed Forces from a different perspective.
Overcoming crises and preventing conflicts have already become central tasks for the Bundeswehr. Peacekeeping missions are increasingly being performed outside Europe, mostly in conjunction with other nations. The joint battle against international terrorism requires a realignment of security policy and its instruments.
Transformation of the Bundeswehr means transformation from the status as it currently exists into something new. It means adapting the structures of the Armed Forces to a new, extended scope of tasks. And at the same time a significant, qualitative jump in the capabilities and thus the effectiveness of the Armed Forces.
At the level of the Armed Forces this process of transformation is being driven forward by the process of Concept Development and Experimentation (CD&E). It has a crucial impact on organisation, equipment, training and deployment. Our simulation systems and our capability for developing new concepts are of special importance within the framework of this scenario. |
