IABG was founded in 1961 as a central analysis and testing organisation for the aerospace industry and the Ministry of Defence as part of an initiative by the German government. The “Versuchs-Jäger” VJ 101, a VTOL and supersonic experimental aircraft of the German Entwicklungsring Süd (EWR), is the start-up of numerous military and civilian large structural tests and components on aircrafts in the IABG. Aviation structural tests are still a core expertise of our business activities and we accompany the life cycles of technical systems of different complexityand development stages for more than 60 years.
