In our drive-in altitude chambers we test vehicles and components for their performance at altitudes and measure exhaust gas emissions in compliance with the standard cycles.

High altitude chamber

  • Dimensions [L x W x H]: 8.50 m x 4.50 m x 4.30 m
  • Temperature range: -30 °C to +50 °C
  • Cooling capacity: max. 180 kW
  • Ambient pressure:
    approx. 960 hPa to 630 hPa (abs.) (approx. 560 m to 3,800 m)
  • Controlled humidity: up to 95 % relative humidity
  • Dynamometer: Single Roller Dynamometer with Pmax = 210 kW,
    Ftractive = 6 kN, vmax = 200 km/h,
    vehicle weight simulation of up to 8,000 lbs, axle load max. 2,000 kg
  • Air fan:
    • Rear-wheel drive vehicle: max. 34,000 m³/h, max. 130 km/h
    • Front-wheel drive vehicle: max. 26,000 m³/h, max. 100 km/h
  • CVS emission measurement: 2 sampling lines (tailpipe : diluted emissions in bags and modal emissions/ engine out: undiluted emissions at separate sampling point)

With the exhaust gas roller test bench we can run and evaluate all the international drive cycles on complete vehicles (e.g. NEDC, FTP-75). The special feature of the facility is that altitudes of 3,800 m above sea level can be simulated (exhaust gas analysis up to 1,600 m) by reducing the ambient pressure.
