IABG Lichtenau Celebrates Its 50th Anniversary

At its site in Lichtenau, East Westphalia, Industrieanlagen-Betriebsgesellschaft mbH (IABG) performs technological tests with the aim of ensuring the best possible protection for soldiers in action. This includes the protection of vehicles and their occupants, the testing of new protective materials, and trials with solutions for different platforms and infrastructures in order to provide protection against current and future threats.

Now IABG Lichtenau can look back on its 50-year history. We have taken this occasion to hold an anniversary celebration at the Lichtenau branch on 14 May 2019. The festivities will be accompanied by a symposium on protection technologies for the land forces held in cooperation with the Association of the German Army (Förderkreis Heer) at the technology centre of IABG Lichtenau and the Heinz Nixdorf Museums Forum in Paderborn.

IABG will take this opportunity to present its range of services in particular for the land forces and their operations and platforms. The programme includes numerous talks given by experts from IABG, from the relevant department of the German Federal Ministry of Defence as well as from industry and science. Apart from addressing specific projects, IABG will also demonstrate its cross-disciplinary skills and solutions for national and international industrial customers from the defence engineering, aeronautics, aerospace and automotive sectors. Included here are protection, ballistic, and impact and high-risk testing. The top-level programme is completed by an exhibition of test items and test benches as well as a tour of the test facilities.

“Over the past 50 years IABG Lichtenau has developed into the national competence centre for the protection of operational forces,” says Dr. Engelbert Waßmuth, the Lichtenau branch manager. “Our comprehensive expertise and experience in the field of protection of operational forces, combined with simulations, technical-operational analyses and tests provide our customers from the Federal Ministry of Defence and national and international industries with a sound basis for ensuring the operational forces' readiness for action now and in the future.”
