Important milestone for the ACENTISS 45.3 m rotor blade certification

On Friday, 3 February 2012, Mr. Wolfgang Kurz, Head of Technical Management with A2WIND, received the certification report for the 45.3 m rotor blade design in accordance with GL-2010 from the Managing Director of DEWI-OCC GmbH, Jürgen Kröning. As a subsidiary of Acentiss GmbH, A2WIND is part of the IABG group.

The successful granting of the Type B Conformity Certificate is an important step towards the rotor blade certification A2WIND GmbH receives from DEWI-OCC. When submitting the certification report, Mr. Kurz stressed his high appreciation of the services offered by the DEWI-OCC experts. In return, Mr Kröning confirmed that “[…] A2WIND have submitted an excellent documentation which allowed us to issue the certification within a very short period of time”.

All parties involved consider the certification to be an very good basis for a further successful co-operation between A2WIND and DEWI-OCC. In calendar week 8, another important step was taken with the successful completion of the rotor blade statics test in Baoding/China.

A2WIND GmbH is a subsidiary of ACENTISS GmbH and airworks S.r.l., an enterprise specialized in aviation and engineering services based in Italy. A2WIND focuses its business activities on the construction and production of lighter and at the same time more efficient rotor blades using new materials.

The Cuxhaven-based DEWI-OCC (DEWI-Offshore and Certification GmbH) is an accredited testing and certification body for the wind energy industry. The DEWI-OCC was founded in 2003 as a subsidiary of the German Wind Energy Institute (Deutsches Windenergie-Institut – DEWI).
