As part of future analyses "Future Operating Environment", we qualify future operational scenarios and make the technology factor assessable in the respective context using the scenario-based capability management method. This is done for the two perspectives of threat and own capabilities. Our technology roadmaps are both measurement and control instruments, providing an important building block in the further development of the armed forces. They are based on trend and technology scouting, technically and scientifically sound assessment and comprehensive knowledge of the national and international research and defence landscape.

Purely reactive obsolescence management can lead to prolonged downtimes and planning difficulties, while proactive approaches rely on existing data sources to assess the likelihood of failure early and facilitate targeted measures to ensure availability. The threat landscape in cyberspace and the electromagnetic environment is highly dynamic and multifaceted.
