On Friday, 22 September at 9:30 a.m., there was a severe accident on the Transrapid test track in Lathen, operated by IABG, in which there were 23 deaths and several injured.
"We are deeply shocked about this incident and will try to clarify the causes as soon as possible", stated Prof. Dr. Rudolf Schwarz, Managing Director at IABG, who is at the site of the accident with a team of experts. "Our thoughts are with those affected and their relatives. They have our deep sympathy".
We would like to thank all the police, emergency and paramedical staff who were on the site for their exemplary and unselfish service. Our particular thanks also go to the counselors and psychologists for supporting the relatives.
A hotline has been established for relatives. It can be reached at +49 160 982 50 606.
On Wednesday, 27 September at 11:00 a.m. an ecumenical memorial ceremony for the victims of the Transrapid accident will take place in the catholic church St. Vitus in Lathen.
