A role-appropriate situation picture is created by analyzing information provided by all stakeholders. Ideally, this information is provided without delay and taking into account different security classifications. The prerequisite for this is controlled and protected data exchange between networks and systems - even with different levels of confidentiality. A multi-cloud approach enables precisely this secure and flexible availability.
The Bundeswehr regards a multi-domain-capable Combat Cloud as the technical basis for information, command and control and effectiveness superiority. It follows the core, fog and edge principle and consists of several Combat Clouds (CC) and other specialized clouds. One of the aims is the resilient networking of all relevant sensors and effectors (edge). In terms of the Software Defined Defence (SDD) approach, CCs are operationally adapted collaboration environments that connect sensors, effectors, systems and people. The overall system is structured as a uniform, consistent architecture. Cyber security and resilience are fully integrated; even high-level information beyond VS-NfD can be processed securely.
For NATO, a multi-domain-capable Combat Cloud also means resource-saving security when connecting other nations in operational scenarios, integrating civilian forces and connecting soldiers in the field.
With the National Secure Cloud, we are meeting these requirements: an approvable, highly mobile and sovereign private cloud solution, including collaboration platforms and groupware, which guarantees secure data processing up to SECRET classification.
