Artificial intelligence in the control center: predicting deployment volumes using machine learning

Every experienced control center employee knows that there are temporal, local and event-related increases in deployment frequencies. The weather plays a major role here, as do the time of year, day of the week, time of day, events and special situations. The deployment volume is estimated in order to have the optimum number of resources available. If the distribution and number of deployments are different than expected, this is compensated for by moving resources to other locations. This happened a total of 13,700 times in the Marburg-Biedenkopf district in 2022. The aim of a joint development project between the district and Industrieanlagen-Betriebsgesellschaft mbH (IABG) is to use artificial intelligence to optimize deployment planning and reduce the number of relocations.
